Olveston School Fun Run – Revived for 2012
Do you remember the Olveston School Fun Run? Did you used to take part or help out as a marshal?
We are keen to get this fantastic community event started again and are looking to hold the race on Sunday 29 April 2012. To solve the problem of roads and marshals we are hoping to plot a route along the paths and bridleways behind the school. There will be a 1k race around the school field for younger children, buggies and those who just fancy a stroll and a 5k race for those who like to run.
The event is being promoted by Olveston School and the local charity ARBAN UK who are raising money for slum dwellers in Bangladesh. Pupils at Olveston have formed a link with children in Jheelpur Slum in Dhaka so this fundraising initiative is part of their wider community curriculum. The race will have a small entry fee (£2.50 for 16s and under and £5 for adults) and sponsorship forms are available for runners who would like to raise more. Red “Run for the Slum” t-shirts are already available to buy.
We hope that many of you will join us, to run or to help out. If you are interested in being involved, please contact Nicky Browne on 07769171772 or email nicky.browne@arban.org.uk.
